In an official announcement, Xiaomi says that it has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary to operate the smart EV business. Mi 11 Series: Launch Date In an official Weibo post, Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun revealed that the Mi 11 series will be unveiled on 28th December. The rumors were true as the company is not waiting until 2021 to unveil its flagship lineup. The Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will be the world’s first smartphones to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset. YouTube Gets Another TikTok-like Feature YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan recently took to Twitter to announce the new feature. Mohan emphasized the fact that it will make it “easier for users to find live streams on YouTube” while scrolling through multiple videos on the platform. The tweet also includes a GIF showcasing the feature in action. The platform allows creators to add hashtags to their videos, which appear above the video title on their website. They have been around for a long time and it is only now that YouTube has chosen to utilize them. Clicking on a hashtag will now take you to a dedicated page that displays videos marked with that hashtag. “Starting today, anyone clicking on a specific hashtag on YouTube, either on the desktop or mobile app, will see a new dedicated page that only contains videos with the hashtag, which are sorted to keep the best videos at the top,” said Team YouTube in an official forum post....

Instagram’s New Safety Features Introduced The new “Take a Break” is a reminder for people to curb excessive use of the Instagram app. When enabled, Instagram will remind users to slow down if they are browsing for a long time. Young users will also be able to set reminders for this, in case the usage increases. The feature is rolling out in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia and will reach more regions by next year....

Instagram Photo Remixes Introduced Instagram, in the coming weeks, will let people with a public account convert their new photos into Remixes, which can then be used for Reels. This will provide a way to create more types of Reel content, which currently is one of the priorities for Instagram. It is said that the option to remix a public photo will be enabled by default but users will get to switch it off if this is not their cup of tea....

Now, for those unaware, Facebook-owned social giant Instagram started testing its short-form video service Reels back in 2019. The company launched Instagram Reels in India right after the government banned the popular short-video platform TikTok last year. It instantly became pretty popular as many popular influencers switched to it, and since its release, Instagram has even tested ads in-between Reels to capitalize on the content. However, a recent bug on Reels is causing videos to get stuck at zero views for users....

Instagram Reels to Get Ads As reported by The Verge, Instagram Reels ads can be up to 30 seconds long. There will be a ‘sponsored’ tag below the username to indicate that it is sponsored content. Unlike ads on Stories, users can like, comment, save, and share Reels ads. The report also points out that users can skip Reels, but we’ll have to wait to see if the company has plans to add an unskippable timer for the first few seconds....

Audio Rooms on Instagram As per a recent tweet by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi, Instagram is currently testing a Clubhouse-like feature for its app. The feature, dubbed “audio rooms”, is currently under-development.
